Joey Logano
Joey Logano slumped badly in 2011 after showing vast improvement at the end of the 2010 season.
Logano finished in the top 10 in five of the final six races in 2010 and ended with seven top-five and 16 top-10 finishes. The season ending push earned a 16th-place points finish in just his second full Sprint Cup season for Joe Gibbs Racing.
Logano struggled in 2011, however, scoring just six top-10 finishes to fall to 24th in the final standings.
Logano, 21, began racing Quarter Midgets at age seven and won the Eastern Division national championship three straight years from 1997-99. He topped the GM Racing Development Driver Evaluation program in 2006 and joined Joe Gibbs Racing in 2007.
He became the youngest driver to win a Nationwide Series race in just his third series start in 2008.
He became the youngest driver to win a NASCAR Cup race – 19 years, 1 month, 4 days – when he won the rain-shortened race at New Hampshire in 2009.
Logano scored three top-five and seven top-10 finishes to finish 20th in points and become the sport’s youngest rookie of the year in 2009.
Logano has nine Nationwide Series wins and teamed with three other drivers to help JGR win the series owner’s championship in 2008.
After a successful debut in the Nationwide Series, Logano was tabbed to replace two-time champion Tony Stewart when Stewart left JGR after the 2008 season.
