Jamie McMurray
Jamie McMurray had the most disappointing season of his career in 2011 – especially after the season he had in 2010.
McMurray won three Sprint Cup races in 2010 – the Daytona 500, the Brickyard 400 and the fall Chase race at Charlotte.
But in 2011, McMurray and his Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team got off to a terrible start – with finishes of 18th or worse in the first five races – and never recovered. McMurray scored just two top-five and four top-10 finishes and wound up a career-worst 27th in points.
McMurray stunned the NASCAR world in 2010 by winning the season-opening Daytona 500. He then proved it was no fluke by winning at Indy and Charlotte and scoring nine top-five finishes. He wound up 14th in points, just missing the Chase.
McMurray spent four years – 2006-09 – with Roush Fenway Racing, winning two Cup races but never finishing higher than 16th in the standings.
He won at Daytona in July in 2007 and at Talladega in 2009. He finished 22nd with Roush in 2009 before moving to Earnhardt Ganassi in 2010 to rejoin team owner Chip Ganassi.
McMurray began his career Ganassi and won his first Cup race in just his second career start, as a fill-in driver for the injured Sterling Marlin at Charlotte.
In 2003, he ran his first full season for Ganassi and while he failed to win during his first three seasons, McMurray finished 13th, 11th and 12th in points before moving to Roush in ’06.
McMurray also has eight career Nationwide Series wins and one in the Camping World Truck Series.
